Candace Rose: With the Academy Awards on Sunday night, what’s the secret to throwing a great Oscar party?

Marc Silverstein: “One of the secrets is, and I don’t look at it as throwing a great Oscar party, I look at it as directing an award winning Oscar party.

One of the things is you’ve got to know all the nominees, right? You’ve got to know something about the movies and the actors and the actresses. To do that you need the Lenovo Ultrabook. Now this is going to catch you up on the go in high definition. It’s inspired by Intel, and weighs just 3.4 pounds. It has a battery life up to eight hours. It has this 360 degree flip fold design. It sits like a tent on your coffee table, perfect for passing around to look up information about the nominees. You can use it as a second screen to check out the red carpet, and most of all you can download your Oscar scorecard.

You’re going to love this- you’re going to pass these Oscar scorecards out in advance and see who can predict the winners. You can download these for free from RiojaWine.com– that’s my favorite wine region in Spain. Go to Facebook.com/RiojaWine and the front of the card is going to give you wine pairing suggestions based on the Oscar nominees and then you can share this on Facebook, and you can tweet it @RiojaWine. And if you do that you’re going to be entered to win dinner for two. So not only are the nominees going to be winners, you’re going to be a winner as well.”

Candace Rose: What other fun tips do you have for throwing an at-home themed viewing party?

Marc Silverstein: “Just like the stars themselves you’ve got to have swag bags or mini swag bags, and you can have some of the same things the stars are getting in their swag bags. For instance, this looks delicious (please see video above) it looks like a cupcake but it’s actually the Rock Candy Cupcake Bath Bomb. You drop it in your bathtub and you relax and enjoy. It’s from SoapyBliss.com.

Or try Zoe + Piper jewelry. This is jewelry with a conscience- there’s a Buddha pendant that says compassion, karma and peace. Or you can try delicious cookies and have them in the swag bag, or you can give them to people to take with them as lovely parting gifts. These cookies are from CookieDaddy (please see video above) they have unique flavors like pistachio lime or brownie cake.

Now here’s an awesome idea, you’re going to have great fun with this for your Oscar party for next year- you and your guests may be able to try on virtual Oscar fashions and the accessories that you see on the red carpet. You can try them on in your living room, with the Swivel Virtual Dressing Room. It’s from FaceCake, and was shown off recently at Bloomingdales. You and your guests can see how you look in the stars fashions without ever changing your clothes.

Check all this stuff out at DailyLounge.com.”
