Candace Rose: Can you tell us about the hottest bridal trends?

Melissa Sweet: “What I’m seeing that girls are loving for 2013 is wedding gowns with lace with alternative necklines and with fit and flare silhouettes. There really is a perfect dress for every bride out there, and the only way to know which trend and which dress is going to be the one for you is to start going into stores trying on dresses.

I’ve done a new collection- Melissa Sweet for David’s Bridal and I’ve taken into consideration all the different body types and what looks good on women. You can go into a store, try on the gowns and start to figure out what’s going to be the best thing and think about where you’re going to be getting married as well- on the beach, in a pasture or maybe in a cathedral, which dress is going to be perfect.”

Candace Rose: How can brides to be get the look for less?

Melissa Sweet: “This new collection that I’ve been working on looks like $5,000 dresses, but we’ve been able to do it for $900 and $1300. It’s really an amazing value. These dresses have incredible workings on the inside to make it look good on the outside at this great price, but it allows girls to put more into the budget for photography or for their honeymoon or for a great pair of shoes.”

Candace Rose: Do you have any advice for choosing the right dress for one’s body type?

Melissa Sweet: “I tell all of my brides that it’s great to look through magazines and tear out pages and get an idea of what you like. But it’s really important to go and put the dresses on so you can see what’s the most flattering. You know which areas of yourself you want to really shine and so choose a dress that’s going to accentuate your shoulders or accentuate your waistline, what you feel most confident about.”

Candace Rose: Do you have any additional tips or information you’d like to share with us?

Melissa Sweet: “You can find more information about the Melissa Sweet for David’s Bridal collection at DavidsBridal.com. And I want to tell all my brides, make sure you remember to keep this fun. Don’t stress out.”
