This year’s Oscar red carpet was one of the most glamorous we’ve seen in years. From actress Jennifer Garner in Gucci to Jennifer Lawrence’s strapless gown, Reese Witherspoon’s Hollywood glam waves and more, there’s no denying they all looked fabulous! Beauty expert Jenn Falik joined me yesterday to share tips on how we can obtain some of the looks we saw on the red carpet in the comfort of our own home, and share tips on how to recreate Jennifer Lawrence’s updo straight from her stylist!
Candace Rose: So how can we rock the fabulous Oscar winning looks we saw on the red carpet and where do we start?
Jenn Falik: “Well, we’ll start with the dresses and how to pull off those very figure flattering, very slim fitting styles we saw like Reese Witherspoon wearing and Jessica Chastain. It’s about what you put on underneath, and leg wear is back in a big way. Hanes has a collection of contemporary sheers, opaques, there’s lace details that are going to smooth you out. There’s control top or just basic smoothing. It can revamp any look that you already have in your closet, but underneath a long gown it just smooths everything out and under $6 a pop, so not going to break the bank.
Also, the right bra is important. Hanes has a ComfortFlex fit bra, great colors comfy and easy customized fit in small to XXL, so it’s easy to know your size and something to wear for a long time and feel comfortable in. Also, no panty lines, we did not see any of those on the red carpet. Celebs know not to make that mistake. Hanes Seamless Panties are going to give you a smooth finish in comfy fun colorful styles. It’s all available at Walmart or Hanes.com.
Sleeveless dresses, always something that we see on any red carpet. A recent study showed that 61% of women between the ages of 18 and 35 feel they’re most sexy and feminine when they go sleeveless, so Dove has introduced go sleeveless antiperspirant deodorant. It’s going to give you 48 hours of protection, you’ve got smoother softer underarm skin in about five days and it’s the only formula with vitamins E and F and Dove moisturizer. They’ve got light fragrances or fragrance free. You can get more info on these at Dove.com.”
Candace Rose: How about when it comes to hair and makeup?
Jenn Falik: “The hair and makeup we saw was very sexy. A lot of emphasis was on the face because hair was either short like Charlize Theron or in updos. She did a very bronzy natural sexy glow. If you want to recreate this at home, you can check out Physicians Formula Sexy Booster collection and their Sexy Glow makeup. There’s a bronzer, a blusher and a lipstick, and under $14 each at drugstores and mass market retailers. The idea is lingerie for your face to make you feel as sexy as you look, so there’s pheromone mimicking ingredients, there’s an after glow illuminator in there and also a sexy vanilla musk fragrance.
The updos that we saw sort of seem like all the rage on Sunday night, and Jennifer Lawrence who stole the show, we can all agree her hair looked great. Celebrity stylist for Dove, Mark Townsend did her hair, and he says to recreate that kind of a look at home, you need to use Dove Style+Care Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse. When your hair is wet you want to work a dollop through from roots down to the ends and it’s going to give your hair texture and hold and that bounciness, but it’s not going to leave the hair crunchy. You want the hair to be touchable and soft.
And then to get your hair to look good on a special day you have to treat it well and nourish it well everyday. If you color your hair, Dove has a color care daily treatment conditioner to keep your color vibrant for up to eight weeks. And when your color looks good, your style regardless of what style you choose is always going to look better.”
