Candace Rose: With the holidays right around the corner, what’s the secret to looking GLAM and where do we start?

Jenn Falik: “We’ll start with dresses because during the holidays, having a go-to little black dress of sorts for holiday parties is key. We’ve seen a lot of very slim fitting styles on the runway this season – whether it’s a separate: a top with a very slim fitting pencil skirt or a dress with a peplum. That seems to be the direction that dresses are going in.

And Rachel Zoe, celebrity stylist who probably knows better than anyone how to pull these looks off, says it starts with what you wear underneath. So she has partnered with Jockey to curate a collection called Rachel Zoe’s “Major Must Haves” from Jockey, and it’s intimates and shapewear. Jockey’s known for comfort and fit and we obviously all know and love Rachel Zoe’s style and sophistication. It’s literally shapewear that you can wear every single day and not feel any worse for the wear. Shapewear can sometimes be constricting and this is nice and comfy but still gets the job done.”

Candace Rose: What are the must haves in accessories?

Jenn Falik: ” For accessories, metallics are really big so you’d complement sort of your black dress with a metallic clutch; just something fun like that. It’s a great way to add a little sparkle and because people travel a lot during the holidays having something metallic that will match anything and everything is a perfect go-to accessory.”

Candace Rose: How about when it comes to hair and makeup?

Jenn Falik: “Hair needs to be a little flowy and loose this season to balance out that severe bodycon dress that you may be wearing so Dove Style+Care Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse is sort of that perfect product for those loose waves that hold their shape. Sometimes loose waves (before you get home from that holiday party) can just turn into pin straight flat hair, this gives you that hold and definition and manageability without that crunch to it.

For makeup, I think the smokey eye has always been the holiday go-to. It just feels very glamorous. Black and charcoal smokey eyes are kind of the classic look, but makeup artists are loving plums and purples for this season, so Elizabeth Arden has their new Beautiful Color Eye Shadow set collection. There’s 32 single shades and those are $18.50 each; and seven duos which are $28.50. They’re all available at Macy’s. And what’s great is they’re buildable, so even if you only have one or two shades, they’re very versatile and you can make the color as dramatic or subtle as you’d like. The Heathered Plums duo is a makeup artists favorite. You’ll use the lighter shade all over the lid and then the darker shade along the lash lines and then the inner and outer corner; blend that up and then within five seconds you get a smokey eye!”
