On September 13th, DIY Network’s ‘Kitchen Crashers’ host and interior designer Alison Victoria surprised the winners of their ‘Worst Kitchen in America’ contest via skype letting them know their kitchen was chosen over 2000 entries to be made over, and featured on DIY Network’s special ‘Kitchen Crashers: Worst Kitchen in America’ in early 2013. Alison joined me recently to talk about the contest, and give us a sneak peek at the episode and the winners!
Candace Rose: Can you tell us about the worst kitchen in America contest?
Alison Victoria: “Who has the worst kitchen in America? DIY Network, the go-to destination for home improvement television, and Food Network Magazine, the best-selling epicurean title on the newsstand, teamed up to find out. Hopeful fans submitted photos and videos and presented their kitchens for consideration. The lucky winner would then get a super cool kitchen make over with Alison Victoria, interior designer and host of DIY Network’s ‘Kitchen Crashers’, for the remodel!”
Candace Rose: Can you tell us a little bit about the entries you received?
Alison Victoria: I can’t even explain the blood, sweat and tears that must have gone into every single entry video. I was continuously amused, touched and torn while watching them. The creativity was endless and the the competition was tight and it made my decision making process a grueling one.
Candace Rose: What was it about this year’s winners that made you choose them?
Alison Victoria: “Brigitte did a video on her own and gave me a play-by-play on every disaster area in her (terrible) kitchen. She was detailed, determined and convincing with her footage, and had a great personality and sense of humor while doing it! She and her husband Chase met during their military deployment and got married and now have two small children together. She sold me with her story, her kitchen and her wit.”
Candace Rose: When will the episode air?
Alison Victoria: “DIY Network’s ‘Kitchen Crashers: Worst Kitchen in America’ special premieres Jan. 28, 2013, at 10 p.m. ET, and will be featured in Food Network Magazine’s January/February 2013 issue.”
Candace Rose: Where can we go for more information?
