With October being National Breast Cancer Awareness month, many of us will be seeing pink ribbons everywhere we shop in support of this important cause. Ulta is giving back in a big way in support of breast cancer awareness by holding their annual cut-a-thon and other campaigns. A few other beauty brands like Votre Vu, Cetaphil, and Dove are also working to bring more awareness to specific causes during this important month as well. Beauty expert Jenn Falik joined me this week to talk about these four brands that are doing their part to make a significant impact in the lives of others who have been touched by such horrible diseases and important causes.
Candace Rose: What brands are giving back to breast cancer awareness?
Jenn Falik: “Brands are really getting in on supporting, and Breast Cancer Awareness is one of many causes we’re seeing our favorite beauty brands support this time of year. Specifically tied to breast cancer awareness, Ulta has their Donate With a Kiss Campaign and for a $1 donation which goes to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation you get a kiss decal that goes in the window of your local Ulta beauty store. They also have limited edition products that you can buy exclusively at Ulta and on Ulta.com, that support the cause like this Stila palette which is called the ‘Courage and Beauty palette’. One dollar from each purchase goes to support breast cancer awareness. They have their cut-a-thon coming up. It’s on Sunday, October 14th from 11 am to 6 pm in stores. You can give a minimum suggested donation of $10, and 100% of which goes to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and you will get a shampoo, cut and style with an Ulta professional stylist. For a location nearest you, you can check out Ulta.com. There’s no appointment, it’s walk-in only so you definitely want to get there on the early side.
And Cetaphil has done their first ever partnership with Camp Wonder which is a medically staffed summer camp for kids with skin diseases and what they’re doing is making a special edition of their best selling moisturizing cream that everyone loves – noncomedogenic, fragrance free – great for sensitive skin and won’t clog your pores. It’s $14.99 at Walgreens, so to donate or check out more you can find Cetaphil on Facebook or you can check out CSDF.org.
Votre Vu is also getting in on the sort of ‘look good do good’ movement by supporting a great cause with their first ever makeup collections. This is a French skincare brand that’s now getting into the makeup game. The products have anti-aging properties, natural ingredients – it’s all about healthy makeup. And their Vu On Rouge is a multitasking lip and cheek tint. It’s got antioxidant mango seed in there, shea butters. It leaves you with a dewy airbrushed finish. One dollar from the purchase of any Votre Vu French Accents collection goes to Pediatric Cancer treatment through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. You can find out more about that at VotreVu.com.
And finally, Dove – they’re known for their self esteem campaigns and they have third annual Self Esteem Weekend coming up on October 5th through the 7th. So the purchase of any Dove product is going to help support this cause. They’re supporting causes like the Boys & Girls Club, Girl Scouts, Girls Inc. You can go to Dove’s Facebook page to find out about self esteem related events in your area, and also you can download some self esteem toolkits.”
