"I said all along I wanted to be the first Michael Phelps." – Michael Phelps, the greatest Olympian of all time.

 

LONDON: 18-time Olympic gold medalist (and 22-time Olympic medalist) Michael Phelps spoke with reporters at the Visa Press Conference in London this morning to talk retirement, his goal of taking swimming to a new level, his idol Michael Jordan, how Words with Friends with his mother and sisters is feeding his competitive streak, and where he'll swim next.

 

Michael Phelps on competing in Brazil in 2016:

"And no, I'm not coming back don't get any ideas." – Michael Phelps

 

Michael Phelps on retirement:

"I'm looking forward to moving onto the next part of my life. And as my mom said last night, 'turning the page to the next chapter'. Who knows where that leads me, but this is my first day of retirement, and this is the first day of my new life."
