With summer officially only a few weeks away, beauty expert Jenn Falik stopped by yesterday to share her top beauty buys for the season!
Candace Rose: With summer officially only almost upon us, what's the secret to looking great this season?
Jenn Falik: "Looking great this season starts with your hair because summer brings a whole host of problems like frizz and flat hair. Pantene has launched a new Pro-V aqua light collection and it features a shampoo, a conditioner and a weightless conditioning shake- it's a leave-in conditioner that is specifically made to really nourish the hair without weighing it down. It's rewriting the rules of conditioning by leaving your hair feeling really lightweight and having a natural bounce to it, but still being healthy and hydrated.
Something else for summer hair- if you have dandruff, summer can be especially rough. So if you're having that feeling of tightness, itchiness, flakes- Head & Shoulders has come out with a new formulation with proprietary technology. It's going to really deliver a more thorough removal of the organisms that cause dandruff and it's going to remove excess oil from the hair and scalp and it's got a green apple scent which is perfect for summer- very crisp, light and refreshing.
We start with the hair and we move into the smile because a bright, white smile is the best way to accentuate a nice faux glow. And Rembrandt has these new intense stain dissolving strips, and what they do is they dissolve completely within 5-10 minutes and as you can see here they're in these little individually packaged packets. You can put them in your back pocket, put them on while you're on your way to work and they'll completely dissolve away your stains from red wine, from coffee or from recent signs of your vices and you don't have to rinse, you don't have to brush your teeth afterwards. $25 at Target- use them twice a day for two weeks and you are going to notice a whiter smile."
Candace Rose: How about when it comes to the body?
Jenn Falik: "When it comes to the body, I think your skin in general over the summer, especially if you're swimming- you're in the ocean, you're at the beach you tend to get really dry. So one way to combat that dry skin on your hands actually can be multitasked with another routine chore that you have to do almost every day (at least for most of us) and that is washing dishes. So Dawn has come out with Hand Renewal with Olay beauty, and it's got Dawn's cleansing power in there with revitalizing proteins to help infuse moisture into the hands and seal hydration into the hands. Within five uses you'll notice that your hands look healthier, they probably will look more youthful because they'll be hydrated. And there's great summer scents to the product as well. It's under $3 at grocery stores, so if your hands get dried out from all the elements of the season from overwashing this is a great way to help that while you're doing something else that you have to do every day anyway."
