Travel Expert, Emily Kaufman, better known as "The Travel Mom" joined me to discuss the top holiday trends in travel and where travelers can get the most bang for their buck this season!
Travel Expert, Emily Kaufman "The Travel Mom" shares her travel tips regularly on both local and national media outlets.
Candace Rose: What are the best ways to save when traveling this holiday season?
Emily Kaufman: "Well, honestly we're really not going to see any big savings, bargain bottom of the barrel airfares for Christmas; maybe into New Years but not for Christmas. So what we need to do is find other areas where we can save and stretch the holiday travel dollar, and one of those is in hotel accommodations, and what you want to look for is a place that that has added value 'more bang for your buck.' I really love the Embassy Suites because they're the only full service hotel company that offers you the two full rooms, a complimentary cook-to-order hot breakfast every morning and a managers reception in the afternoon as well.

And now over the holiday season they've got a $10,000 shopping spree sweepstakes going on at EmbassySuites.com and for every night that you stay you get entered for another chance to win. So we're seeing a lot more bang for the buck in added value and staying in hotels like this."

Candace Rose: Will certain destinations have any great deals?
Emily Kaufman: "Well yes, several destinations have some great deals and what we're seeing is that the road trip and the train travel are becoming more popular than ever. People don't want to the hassle to deal with of the airline travel. So those easy getaways are really becoming popular and Connecticut is so much closer than you think. Connecticut's got all kinds of great stuff for families, there's snowboard areas and ski areas (four different ones). There's a place called Mohawk Mountain where there's seven different lifts and tickets are as low as $27 for a child's lift ticket. There's the Mystic Aquarium, the Institute for Exploration and a free Planetarium show at Mystic Seaport.

So all of these great things can be found at CTVisit.com where it's all about the area attractions and restaurants and different offers."

Candace Rose: And what are some of the other top trends in travel?
Emily Kaufman: "Well, what we're seeing is that the reward programs continue to grow and give more benefits- these are for airlines, hotels, rental car companies and credit card companies. So you can get all kinds of travel perks for the purchases that you're already making as well as other products that are outside of the travel category. You know I threw out a lot of information about a lot of different things and it's all in one place at YourNewsCafe.com."
