Interview: Get Red Carpet Ready With Beauty Blitz, Polly Blitzer

On Tuesday I had the great pleasure of speaking once again with former In Style Editor and Founder of Beauty Blitz, Polly Blitzer on getting red carpet ready just in time for this Sunday’s Oscars! Polly can be seen regularly on Fox News, Weekend Today Show, Showbiz Tonight, CNN News and CBS News.

Candace Rose: With the Oscars airing this weekend, what are some of the top trends we’ll be seeing on the red carpet?

Polly Blitzer: “Well, this season is all about understated drama with beauty, so we’re talking about dark eyes, matte beige lips and matte glowing skin. I have some products here (see below) you can pick up at the drugstore where they’re under 15 bucks each. They’re so easy to find and you can be your own celebrity glam squad.”

CR: Who are you looking forward to seeing on the red carpet?

PB: “Oh my gosh, I’m obsessed with Anne Hathaway. They’ve all been really turning out great looks this season. The top thing that people really covet from their looks is that dewy, gorgeous radiant skin. The product you can use that really gets that look for you is Bio-Oil. It’s a cult skin care remedy from Cape Town, South Africa. It’s packed with Vitamin A, E, Rosemary, Lavender, Chamomile and then this really breakthrough ingredient called PurCellin oil. It gives you that glowy quality. It’s lightweight, it’s non-greasy on sort of freshly washed damp skin – just put a couple drops between your palms and press it in and then after your makeup, you can dab some onto your bone structure to really draw that light like a celebrity has. It not only prevent and treat and minimize the effects of scars and stretch marks on your body, but for your face it also can even out your skin tone and it can really quench dehydrated skin. $12 for a 2 oz. bottle, it’s such a great price and it’s a must have in every woman’s beauty cabinet.”

CR: Is it safe for acne prone and sensitive skin?

PB: “It’s great for every skin type, any age, any season but once you get your skin under control, it’s great to find the best eye makeup product. And for those rich, seductive eyes put on a grey shadow and then sweep on just a little bit of fine eyeliner. And a really fine point eyeliner that everyone’s buzzing about is actually a multitasker from Physicians Formula and they’re calling it the smartest lash booster ever and you heard me right, it is lash boosting. It’s an eye booster, lash boosting brush tip liner eyeliner. It comes in a variety of colors, you just sweep it along the lash line. It gives you that gorgeous color payoff but if you use it for two to four weeks you’ll start to see longer looking lashes because it contains this serum that really hydrates and conditions and treats your lash area. It’s $10.95 at drugstores, it’s hypoallergenic, it’s safe and it’s been tested. Physicians Formula actually has a 3 in 1 that’s a 2 in 1. They launched a 3 in 1 talc free mineral corrective powder, so it brightens and it tones and it adds warmth to your skin in one step. It’s another red carpet sort of secret because you don’t want to be piling on lots of products, you want one product that will do lots of things so you don’t get that cakey look and this one has so many benefits in one and it’s one step. It’s quick, it’s easy, we all multitask and our products should too.”

CR: What else do we need to be red carpet ready this season?

PB: “Well, a lot of celebrities take so much time and effort to do their hair, their makeup, their nails, their outfit, their wardrobe but then you look and you see “stubble trouble” on their legs and you don’t want to do that, so a product that I think every woman should get is this new razor from Schick Quattro for women. I used it this morning and I love it! It’s this limited edition purple razor that’s ergonomically designed so it won’t slip. It contours to your body, it has a rubberized handle, I used it this morning and got the smoothest shave ever with one eye opened, one eye closed and no shaving cream. It was amazing and actually the conditioning strip on the razor for the first time I’ve ever seen has antioxidant properties from acai berry and conditioning properties from jojoba. It’s like a triple threat of amazingness because it gives you smooth, soft legs conditioned and also it has antioxidant benefits and it’s under $10 at drugstores and grocery stores. So, from head to toe you can really mimic and emulate the celebrity looks that you like and rock your own personal red carpets like nobody’s business.”

CR: Where can we go for more information?

I saw some of your flickr photos of your blizzard piles. It looked like a LOT of snow. It did snow some here today, but only enough to leave a dusting on the roofs and grass. The streets and sidewalks are staying clear. Pretty perfect for a snow day! I saw some of your flickr photos of your blizzard piles. It looked like a LOT of snow.
