Since Fashion Week landed during the week of 9/11 in NYC this year, "MyGoodDeed" a prominent Non Profit created by the families (and friends) personally affected by the tragedies of September 11, 2001, made 9/11/09 "an official National Day of Service and Remembrance under the Tents at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week through an on-site exhibit, as well as an online auction."
“We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week designers and the entire fashion community to help spread the message of hope and service on 9/11,” said MyGoodDeed president David Paine, who founded the organization in 2002 along with close friend Jay S. Winuk, the brother of 9/11 rescuer Glenn J. Winuk, an attorney and volunteer firefighter and EMT who died in the collapse of the World Trade Center South Tower. “We are inspired and humbled by the incredible support of so many designers who have agreed to donate one-of-a kind pieces to support the online auction.”
From September 11 through October 8, you can contribute to this wonderful cause by bidding on gorgeous spring pieces just off the runway (as well as a few fall pieces) donated by over 20 designers including Diane Von Furstenberg, Max Azria, Phillip Lim, Donna Karan and Vivienne Tam to name a few. Items range in price from $275 to 10,000, and are available at Charity Buzz.
