Every spring from late April to mid June, before the temps. are scorching hot, American White Pelicans can be seen around my neighborhood, especially in the evenings. I did a little research on them tonight…do you notice the bumps on their beaks? Once a bird lays eggs, the bump disappears. They eat 4 lbs a day! Can you believe it? They absolutely love my neighborhood as there are a few fish ponds two doors down. These fish are supplied to restaurants in San Francisco, and can be seen at the California State Fair.
Since I've turned into the Nature Conservationist 😉 I had to share this website with you, it's called E Nature and tells you based on your zip code, which plants and animals are native to your jurisdiction. Just make sure if you have a skiddish dog, not to play the bird calls. I learned my lesson tonight, as little Lucy wasn't too happy with me.
